Collaboration between the International Relations Study Program at Udayana University and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Indonesian South-South Cooperation Seminar.
The International Relations Study Program of Udayana University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, organized a seminar titled “A Decade Reflection of Indonesia’s South-South Cooperation (SSC).” The event took place at the FISIP Hall in Denpasar and was attended by students and invited participants from various institutions.
The seminar aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of cooperation among developing countries, particularly those in the Global South, in promoting international welfare and development. South-South Cooperation (SSC) represents a strategic framework emphasizing solidarity, knowledge exchange, and collective development among developing nations.
The event featured two speakers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Renata Hutagalung and Diar Nurbintoro. Both speakers elaborated on how developing countries collaborate in areas such as development and humanitarian assistance, as well as the importance of technical cooperation in implementing these initiatives at a practical level.
They also highlighted Indonesia’s active contribution to international development across several sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), reflecting the country’s commitment to supporting fellow developing nations.
The presentation session was followed by responses from International Relations lecturers at Udayana University, Sukma Sushanti and Putu Ratih Kumala Dewi, who offered critical perspectives on the topic and encouraged deeper discussions among participants.
The seminar was attended by students from Udayana University, Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas), and other invited guests. Participants showed strong enthusiasm, particularly during discussions on international cooperation and development issues in regions such as Africa and the Asia-Pacific.
South-South Cooperation, which originated from the spirit of the Bandung Conference, aims to strengthen solidarity among developing countries while fostering bilateral trust. This seminar is expected to enhance understanding of Indonesia’s role in international cooperation and encourage greater contributions in the future.
