Community Service: HI Udayana X SMA Highscope Indonesia Bali – OASIS Bali Model United Nations

DENPASAR – The world of diplomacy is no longer reserved solely for senior diplomats in New York. This spirit was vividly on display as the International Relations (HI) Study Program at Udayana University collaborated with SMA Highscope Indonesia Bali to host OASIS Model United Nations (MUN), a United Nations assembly simulation. The event took place at SMA Highscope Indonesia Bali on May 8–9, 2025.

A Glimpse into Youth Diplomacy in Bali

The organization of OASIS MUN stems from the close alignment between the International Relations curriculum and the learning methods at SMA Highscope Indonesia Bali. As a study program that deals daily with global dynamics, HI Udayana felt the need to bring this practical experience to the high school level.

"This activity is more than just a formal simulation. We want students to be able to hone essential skill sets such as communication, negotiation, and problem-solving in facing both local and global challenges," said a representative of the community service team.

Intergenerational Benefits

This collaboration creates a dual positive impact. For the students and faculty of HI Udayana, the event serves as a platform to continuously sharpen their diplomatic proficiency while navigating ever-changing assembly dynamics.

Meanwhile, for SMA Highscope students, OASIS MUN becomes a living laboratory for learning how to be critical global citizens. They do not only learn public speaking but also how to formulate solutions for complex international issues.

These small steps taken in a Bali classroom are expected to mold future leaders who are fluent in diplomacy and sharp in providing solutions for the world.
