Empowering Local MSMEs: IR Udayana and IR UKI Conduct Community Service in Kusamba Village
The International Relations (IR) Study Program of Udayana University showcased its commitment to local economic empowerment through a Community Service (PKM) initiative. Collaborating with the IR Study Program of the Christian University of Indonesia (UKI), the program reached out to MSME players in Kusamba Village, Klungkung, on Thursday (23/11/2023).
The event, held at the Kusamba Village Hall, specifically targeted local salt farmers and fish processors. Centered on the socialization of e-commerce, the initiative aimed to expand the market reach of the village's signature products through digital platforms.
Strategic Education from ExpertsThe program was officially opened by the Head of Kusamba Village, I Nengah Semadi Adnyana, alongside the Chairperson of the event, Penny Kurnia Putri, S.Sos., M.A. (IR Udayana Lecturer). Three expert speakers shared their insights during the main session:
A.A. Bagus Surya Widya Nugraha (IR Udayana Lecturer): Emphasized the importance of professional online shop management.
Darynaufal Mulyaman (IR UKI Lecturer & Director of CESFAS UKI): Explained the urgency of obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB) for legal standing.
Putu Andi Yuda Prayoga (Vice President of JCI Bali): Provided insights on crafting creative product narratives for effective branding.
The interactive discussion, moderated by Putu Ratih Kumala Dewi (IR Udayana Lecturer), was attended by approximately 35 MSME participants. Attendees were encouraged to view digitalization not just as an option, but as a necessity for growth in the modern era.
This initiative is expected to enhance the economic independence of Kusamba’s MSMEs, enabling them to compete in broader markets. Furthermore, this collaboration between Udayana and UKI strengthens the academic bond between the two institutions while delivering a tangible impact on society.
