The Important Role of Udayana Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Students in the Think20 (T20) Indonesia Summit 2022

A total of twenty students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University, representing the International Relations, Communication Studies, Public Administration, and Sociology programs, participated in the Think20 Summit as Liaison Officers (LOs). The event was held at Hilton Bali Resort as part of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency series.

Think20 or Think20 is one of the official engagement groups of the Group of Twenty, focusing on comprehensive discussions among think tanks from G20 member countries. The forum aims to produce research-based policy recommendations that can guide global leaders in formulating impactful and sustainable policies.

The discussions within the Think20 Summit were organized into nine Task Forces, each addressing key global issues. These included Open Trade and Sustainable Investment, Governing Climate Target, Energy Transition and Environmental Protection, and International Finance and Economic Recovery. These topics reflect complex global challenges that require collaborative international solutions.

The event was officially opened with a virtual speech by President Joko Widodo and attended by prominent figures such as Bambang Brodjonegoro and Bambang Soesatyo, along with leading academics and experts from various countries.

The involvement of FISIP Udayana students as Liaison Officers provided them with valuable hands-on experience in international forums. This role required not only strong communication skills but also professionalism in supporting the smooth execution of a global-scale event.

This experience is expected to broaden students’ perspectives and enhance their awareness of global issues. It also represents a meaningful contribution of students in supporting international events while strengthening their capacity as future global actors.
