Udayana International Relations Holds Hybrid Curriculum Webinar Based on the KKNI
The International Relations Study Program at Udayana University organized a hybrid webinar on curriculum development based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), held at the FISIP Building, Sudirman Campus. The event was supported by the Indonesian Association of International Relations Scholars as part of a collaborative effort to enhance the quality of higher education in International Relations.
The webinar featured two prominent scholars in the field of International Relations, Dr. Asep Kamaluddin Nashir and Dr. Agus Haryanto. The event was attended by International Relations lecturers from various universities across Indonesia, reflecting a strong commitment to developing relevant and adaptive curricula.
The primary objective of the webinar was to align the curriculum of International Relations programs with national standards and association guidelines, particularly in designing learning outcomes for undergraduate (S1) programs. This alignment is essential to ensure that graduates possess competitive qualifications and are well-prepared to meet the demands of the job market and advancements in science and technology.
In his presentation, Dr. Agus Haryanto emphasized the importance of learning outcomes as the foundation of higher education curriculum development. He highlighted that graduates are expected not only to have academic knowledge but also to embody values such as integrity, creativity, and professional competence. Furthermore, graduate profiles should be strategically designed to align with labor market needs and developments in science and technology.
He also pointed out that, in addition to mastering concepts, theories, methods, and the philosophical foundations of the discipline, both general and specific skills are crucial components of learning outcomes. These skills ensure that graduates are equipped with the necessary competencies to compete in an increasingly competitive global workforce.
Complementing this perspective, Dr. Asep Kamaluddin Nashir, as Chairman of AIHII, explained that curriculum development is closely linked to the broader goals of higher education, particularly in preparing graduates for the workforce. Therefore, curriculum design must remain open and adaptive to external developments, including industry demands, global changes, and evolving academic trends.
He further emphasized that curricula must guarantee the quality of graduates through standards established by the KKNI, while also considering institutional resources, vision, student needs, and contemporary challenges. In this regard, the curriculum serves not only as an academic framework but also as a strategic instrument for producing high-quality and relevant graduates.
The webinar, which lasted approximately three hours, concluded with the key takeaway that higher education curricula must continuously adapt to rapid technological advancements. The event ended with an interactive discussion session and a group photo, symbolizing strengthened academic networks among International Relations scholars in Indonesia.
